@captioncolorado.com >>> good morning, everyone. it's monday, december 3. i'm michelle griego. >> hi, everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. it is 6:31 now. and the rain is over for now. but boy, what a mess to clean up now. >> no kidding! one of the biggest is a large sinkhole on mountain view drive in lafayette. cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington explains it's a road hazard as well as a health and safety issue. elissa? >> yeah, good morning. this is some of the most extreme storm damage we have seen. a 20-foot sinkhole that opened in the lafayette neighborhood that's right near the downtown. and look how close it got to some homes. it's practically in this house's front yard. now, this happened yesterday afternoon following some heavy rain. the storm overflowed a creek which then saturated the ground. that eroded the street and caused part of it to suddenly drop. nobody was hurt, but that sinkhole is just steps away from homes and it's caused some very big hazards. the sinkhole's blocking two lanes but also put pressure on a water main so some homes had their water cut off last night. at least one house was wit

't been able to retrieve any information. michelle miller visited a company that might be able to help. >> reporter: when hurricane sandy washed through the northeast, it damaged thousands of computers. some of their owners are looking for a miracle. >> this is where the magic happens. >> reporter: he runs data recovery operations for kroll, the company now trying to ring out information from those water-logged hard drives. kroll technicians recover 99% of the data from another drive blown into the atmosphere after the space shuttle "columbia" disaster. that nearly melted drive sat at the bottom of a texas lake for six months. they were even successful after 9/11. you get the worst of the worst. >> absolutely. if they need to come into the room, that's basically the last resort. >> reporter: we were allowed inside kroll's clean room in secaucus, new jersey, where behind a secure door there are fly paper formats to separate dirt from shoes and hepa filters to sanitize the air while technicians work. hard drives contain disks or platter where is information is stored and electronics that

the campaign manager put together a come back plan. look we're the campaign that had been behind michele bachmann, we'd been behind rick perry, behind people who weren't even in the race. we were steady. those are moments when the campaign can either fall apart and start blaming each other and start yelling in the huddle or get together and hang your head down. >> rose: what about when you're speaking to supporters and you talk about the fact that the obama campaign and the president in a sense buy goodies bought the convention. >> this is what happened as far as i know. i wasn't on those calls, but i've heard a recording of the second call. he had some extended talk earlier in the day with a smaller group. and from what i understand, he was much more expansive about what he had, there's no one reason that we lost. we have to look at different things. and then he was on a second call. and i think that he sort of short handed things in a way that didn't come out the way that it was intended. it was supposed to be a call not to the public, it wasn't a speech, it was to his friends. i thin
